Vishnu Rest House

We paid ₹2800 a night for a room that fit three of us comfortably, and there was also a room option at ₹1200 per night. The top floor has a stunning view over the Ganges. Getting around by the ghat route was lovely, clean and peaceful. Dashashwamedh Ghat is only 600 meters away, and most major temples are walkable. Shared boats cost ₹100 per person. A private boat to cover the ghats from Assi Ghat to Manikarnika Ghat was around ₹2000, and going farther, say to Namo Ghat, may cost more. From Dashashwamedh Ghat, you can get a shared auto or bike to Sarnath Buddha Mandir. For Hanuman Mandir, IIT-BHU, Kashi Vishwanath (New) Mandir, and Tulsi Manas Mandir, take an auto from Assi Ghat. We used shared autos for ₹20-₹30 per person, so if a driver asks more, splitting the trip into sections can save money. Dashashwamedh Ghat aarti is at 6:15 PM, and getting there by 5:00 PM helps you find a good spot. At Assi Ghat, morning aarti is at 5:30 AM in winter and 5:00 AM in summer. Arrive half an hour early for the quiet atmosphere.

We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the Ganges. The rooms are small and basic, but had what we needed, including firm, comfortable beds, a simple shower room, and good AC. The food was delicious, the views were brilliant, and everything felt relaxed and affordable. Madeleine and the whole team were lovely to meet and talk with. We'd happily come back. Pandey ghat is a peaceful spot to take in the Ganges, and the stay there felt blissful. The facilities are only the bare essentials. Dashaswamedh ghat and Shree Vishwanath temple are within walking distance along the ghats. There's a kitchen in the house and plenty of cafes nearby.

I came to the guest house to meet someone and found it calm, with a lovely river view. It's a heritage home with a private temple and is very close to tradition gym. The location and price are both very good. You do need decent health for the steps up from the ghat, though it's suitable for elders too.
