Mektoub Beach Resort

It was a real struggle to find the place at night, with no phone signal or proper signs. It's set away from the main road, and there's no road to the resort, so access by car is difficult. Once there, the ambience was truly blissful. You can listen to the waves and wake up to them. As an architect, I loved the room design and the laterite bricks. The hosts were warm and helpful. Breakfast was just okay and could improve, and lunch was overpriced for the amount served, but I was happy to let those things go for the setting.

The rooms were spacious for two and well maintained, and the beach was clean and tidy, just a few minutes' walk away. Food was okay, though the appam and vegetable stew are definitely worth trying. It's a decent place for a decent price, but don't expect a high level of service or lots of extras. Two nights here felt worthwhile.

The property is quiet and peaceful, away from the crowds at Varkala, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, with fresh fruit, toast, and an Indian breakfast dish. It's a quaint place with good facilities, but a bit hard to find. It's very near blue water resort, so you can call the front desk for help. Parking is at blue water, then there's a bit of a walk to Mektoub.

I loved my stay so much that I added two more nights. The rooms sit beautifully between the rice fields and the sea, in a nice, very quiet area. Rafiq, his son, and everyone else there were kind and helpful. Thanks for such a lovely time. I'll definitely come back soon!
