Palan Beach Resort

The caretaker did help after a family member slipped on the stairs late at night and injured their leg, staying with us and offering hospital transport. We appreciated that, but there was no medical kit. We had to use a cold water bottle until a family member's ice pack helped with the swelling. With stairs and no lift, first aid should be available. The property has two floors but no elevator, making luggage and stairs difficult, especially for older people, children and anyone with mobility issues. Hot water comes from solar power and is only available in the daytime. At night, you have to ask the caretaker for a bucket and carry it from the ground floor to the second. Room phones don't work, so an emergency means walking down to the caretaker or reception. One family room had a broken jet spray and no water until we repeatedly called for the caretaker to turn on the motor. Cleaning hours are limited, and staff kept asking us to leave quickly. We'd booked five rooms and had families with young kids, so getting ready took time. The cleaners waiting right outside the rooms felt awkward and intrusive. After room service, bathroom mats were gone, so we had to go down two floors to ask for them. Maintenance and facilities are average, and things only get done if you keep calling. The caretaker was supportive as a person, but Palan Beach Resort felt more like a private property than a resort. It needs a lot of work before it can be presented as a comfortable stay. It isn't family-friendly or senior-friendly, and it isn't worth the price. Not worth it until improvements are made.

For ₹5000 a night, this was a terrible stay. The AC didn't work, and management offered no proper response or fix. The receptionist kept telling us not to set it to 16 degrees 😅, even though the unit itself wasn't working. They'd already taken full payment, so we had no real options. Other rooms were available, but they wouldn't move us.

The calm atmosphere made it a lovely place to unwind, and the cliff sunsets were unforgettable 🌅. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. The location is just right for enjoying nature and getting away from everyday rush. I had an amazing stay at this palan beach resort in Varkala and would happily return.

We felt at home here. The rooms were cozy and the balcony had a peaceful view. The sunset is magical. I checked other hotels after seeing complaints about prices, and this one seemed like great value for the quality. There was a small shower problem at check-in, but staff fixed it within minutes. The caretaker even arranged extra buckets of water, which I didn't need, just to make sure I was comfortable. This place deserves more praise for its warmth and charm. Highly recommend.
