The little stream was a lovely spot to cool off or sit and read, and there are short walks right on the property. We spent two very relaxing days at field view estate bungalow, tucked among lush coffee plants. The owner and staff made us feel welcome throughout. It would suit families or groups wanting a private stay, and I’d gladly recommend it to people after that kind of getaway.

The food was delicious and made to suit what guests asked for. Mr Vimeesh and his staff live on the property, were easy to reach at any hour, and treated us very warmly. We also had a campfire and barbecue, and there’s a natural mountain stream and pool with water flowing through it. Set among coffee estates, the place is beautifully kept and only about a 10-minute drive from Kalpetta. A great place to visit in Wayanad.

There’s very little to look at beyond the surrounding coffee plants, and the sightseeing spots are a long way off. I also found this a dull stay whether travelling alone or as a couple. The rooms are so small that an extra cot won’t fit, and there aren’t enough of them for even ten people. The food tastes good, but choices are very limited and they won’t customize it. When we asked for onion pakoda as an evening snack, the owner said they lacked the staff or cooking skill to make it. We also asked to have lunch instead of dinner and were refused. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The rooms were neat and clean, and the natural setting was lovely. Still, aside from those points, I didn’t find much to like. The office and dining areas share one room, which made privacy uncomfortable, and the cutoff time for the evening campfire was disappointing. The small pond shown in the pictures had no water because the incoming water was being drained away; management should find a way to retain it. There also wasn’t any equipment for guests, like balls or tennis gear.

The owner is deeply spiritual and has seen a lot of the world, so he’s engaging to talk to while still respecting personal boundaries. The South Indian food was simple, tasty, and filling. For real quiet and peace, I’d stay here on a weekday. It feels like you could find your Nirvana here.
