I visited Vellore and the Golden Temple last year and stayed at Sri Annamalaiyar Residency. The room was spacious, but it wasn't very clean, and there was no hot water. For a half-day stay, I felt ₹2500 was far too expensive, and the staff seemed more concerned with money than guest comfort. I wouldn't recommend it. There are better nearby choices for a fairer price and better service.
The housekeeping staff were rude, and the service was awful. There was no water in the restroom. A room without water is about all this place offers.
The reception gave us an uneasy feeling, as if something was off. Our stay was also disrupted by power cuts and recurring water shortages. We had to keep contacting the person in charge just to get water in the morning, and it wasn't available around the clock. The rooms were poorly kept, there were mosquitoes, and the TV seemed to be there in name only. This was not a good place to stay, and those problems are unacceptable for a hotel.
The rooms are worn and not properly looked after, and the staff's manner was poor. I wouldn't choose this for a family stay. Hospitality was very bad.
I reported the room's condition, but nobody did anything. The toilet seat shifted, there was no water or intercom phone, and the bathroom had no exhaust fan. Even the bed blankets weren't clean. The room was badly maintained and the whole stay was a very bad experience. This should be your last choice.
