Daspalla Hotel Visakhapatnam

The rooms are spacious and quiet, even with the busy city around, and the rooftop pool, fitness center, and banquet facilities are useful extras. Hotel Daspalla is right in the commercial center of Vizag, about 3 km from the railway station and 13 km from the airport. RK Beach is a 10-15 minute drive away, so this suits someone prioritizing the city over a beachfront stay. The decor feels a little dated, but the service and food make it a reliable, good-value business hotel. Dharani is especially known for authentic South Indian thali, and the hotel has a reputation for old-school hospitality.

The parking was another letdown: no one guided us to a space, and the security staff seemed uninterested and sometimes outright rude. Inside, the handwashing area was poorly maintained, and the thali was underwhelming, with no server checking whether we needed anything or wanted a refill. Our drinks never arrived despite two reminders, and by the time staff said they were coming, we were nearly done with lunch. I went back to Dakshin with my family after almost 30 years, hoping to revisit a place I remembered going to as a child with my parents whenever we were in Vizag. The food quality, lack of attention to our order, and general staff attitude were extremely disappointing. I left with a forgettable experience instead of the childhood memories I had hoped to relive.

We picked the hotel for two days because we wanted to sample its different restaurants and broad food selection. I especially enjoyed the South Indian dishes, particularly the dosas, and breakfast was delightful. The rooms were clean and neat, the service was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Back after 20 years, though I've been coming to this hotel since I was a kid. We had the non-veg buffet with family. The ambience and food were nice, and while I'd like to see more variety, the dishes we tried were good. A nice one to try with your family.
