Hotel Lakshmi Residency

I spent two days here in March 26 as a solo traveller. I was too tired to ask management for clean sheets, so I took them off and slept on the mattress. The room was dirty enough that I kept my things on the floor, which was the cleanest spot. The toilet was clean, and the basic amenities were there, but tables had food stains and scraps left by previous guests. The sheets and pillow covers were used, with fresh stains and hair. The room was mid-sized and about 15 minutes on foot from Vizag Railway Station, in a decent area with plenty of restaurants and auto rickshaws. Staff and management were polite, but basic attention to cleanliness was missing. In a budget hotel, if management can't keep things clean, what else is there to ask for? This place might suit the daring, especially anyone happy to sleep on used sheets and pillows and leave their belongings on dirty tables. I'd avoid it. Maybe budget hotels in VISHAKAPATNAM don't have much sense of cleanliness, so avoid the lower and middle budget range and experiment only at the upper end. Also, don't choose a hotel just because its check-in time fits your trip. Stick to standard times and hotels.

The location is excellent, close to both the railway station and bus stand, and the staff are excellent too. The hotel is neat and clean, with very good rooms and nice bathrooms.

The night-shift Receptionist/Manager was polite, and the railway station is nearby, about 10 minutes by cab. Still, I didn't feel it was a safe place for a family and wouldn't recommend it for one. The rooms were tiny and dusty, and the TV screen was damaged, though it worked partly. During our 2-day stay for 2 persons, they gave us only 1 ltr of drinking water instead of 4. I can't call this a decent hotel.

The room and washroom were well maintained and hygienic. They don't provide any meals, and AC costs an extra 500 per day. Hospitality could be better.
