Breakfast stood out for its wide selection and great service, and the new manager was polite and around each morning. The rooms, though, were a different story. The older suites felt below even one-star standard, with filthy stained carpets, shelves coming loose, and old, uncomfortable beds. The views were poor too, facing construction on one side and garbage-filled older homes on the other. I booked twice, and both reservations went wrong despite confirming a week ahead. On the first visit, I’d booked a suite for my family’s arrival in Baghdad, but was given a room instead. Their flight was delayed until the next day, so we managed. That room cost 160,000 IQD and was motel quality, with dirty carpet, old towels, and a dripping shower. For the family’s weeklong stay, I booked a “VIP” suite at 250,000 IQD per night and confirmed again a week before. When we arrived, the hotel said the previous guests had extended their booking, so only an older suite was available, with maybe a VIP suite the next day. Reception was kind, but the back-and-forth was unprofessional. We did get the booked suite for the next five nights. The marble reception gives a polished first impression, but looking further in, things are in bad shape. I wouldn’t book here again and would recommend finding a better location.

We came from erbil and were happy with our stay. The rooms had plenty of space, so it never felt cramped, and the hotel was clean and felt safe. It’s not a huge place. The Iraqi breakfast had a great range of choices, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We booked by phone without paying in advance. The price went up each time I called as the date got closer, but we were still satisfied. Thursday night for a one-bedroom room was 200k, about $140.

The new Lebanese manager is doing his best, but the rooms still need attention. Breakfast needs work too. I tried it once during my two-night stay and didn’t feel it was worth going back for.

Breakfast was the highlight for us, with lots of choices and service until 12 PM, which was a real plus. The staff were helpful, the service was good, and our room was clean. We’d seen reviews raising cleanliness concerns before booking, but didn’t encounter any problems ourselves. It may be a little expensive, though against other Baghdad hotels I think the price is worthwhile.

The balcony views are lovely, and the hotel has a real cultural history. Still, the rooms and outside areas need better upkeep, especially for cleanliness and odors. The gym isn’t clean, reception isn’t great, and security doesn’t seem to work well.
