Traditional Hotel

A beautiful boutique hotel with lovely staff and a great breakfast. It’s a bit quirky, with low ceilings and odd layouts, but that’s part of the charm of a historic place. The cafe also serves great food during the day. Recommended!

The location is the hotel’s only real positive. The rooms are both very small and smelly, and breakfast was terrible. I’ve stayed in thousands of hotels across different countries and have never dealt with this kind of disrespect or what I consider qualified fraud. If you don’t want to be scammed, I’d advise staying away. We’d agreed to have a two-bed room for the first night, then a double rum for the second at a higher rate. I paid the hotel fee in advance and also paid the price difference. When I was leaving, a very rude and disrespectful woman at reception kept me waiting, then demanded a very high extra amount because I’d changed rooms. I told another woman at reception that I had paid in advance for both nights and the difference, and asked to speak with the first woman so she could confirm. She initially said there was no need and wouldn’t let me speak to her. Then she pretended to call, but got no answer. After I kept insisting, she asked on the phone herself. I heard the other person confirm what I’d said, but the receptionist still lied by saying “Okay” to avoid causing trouble. They may pressure you to pay a high fee because they keep your passports at reception.

The room and service didn’t match the price. In the double room I booked, the shower and toilet were separate, and the ceiling was so low I had to crouch to move around. Getting to them meant leaving the bedroom, walking along the corridor, and passing a staff storage room. I asked to switch to a different room at the same price, but staff said only a more expensive VIP room was available. I asked if they’d let me cancel the final night for free to make up the extra cost, and they agreed to that deal. The next day, though, they changed their story and said there’d be a cancellation fee. When I asked why they’d lied, they said the staff didn’t know hotel policy. I can understand mistakes, but guests shouldn’t have to pay for the hotel’s error. I spent three days arguing and explaining that changing an agreement already made was fraudulent. After a lot of persistence, I finally got a refund. I don’t think anyone meant to cause harm, but a valuable part of my trip went into sorting out a problem that wasn’t my fault.

The yard and room were very pretty and peaceful, and the people working here were kind, patient, and really nice. The hotel has a great feel in central Isfahan, close to the amazing Naghsh-e Jahan Square. A couple of things could be better. We stayed in a room with five beds, and the bathroom door wouldn’t close from the outside. One bed was right beside that door, which didn’t work well. Breakfast also needs improvement, with more choices and better food. Apart from those small issues, everything was great and we had a wonderful stay.
