Royal Hotel Shiraz

It was quiet, though the water never got very hot and the beds felt a little hard to me. The receptionist said there were no rooms, but I found availability online and booked one.

The room itself was clean and okay, but there was too much noise, and the hotel didn’t look like the photos on the reservation sites. We were first put in the wrong room, then got the room we had actually reserved after complaining. When we asked to move because of the noise, they wouldn’t even consider it, saying every room was occupied. The front desk staff were very unfriendly, which was disappointing for a hotel with this star rating and location. I wouldn’t recommend it.

This was my worst hotel experience. I’m Iranian, lived in Shiraz for four years, and have traveled to many countries, but I was extremely unhappy with the service here. I arrived at 1 a.m. the night before and checked out the next morning. Without an Iranian SIM card, I couldn’t contact my family using the hotel phone or Wi-Fi. After making me wait two hours, they finally said it was because my phone was an iPhone. There was no tea or coffee at breakfast; they brought dark, cold tea only after I’d finished eating. They also charged me 1,000,000 rial for a small bottle of minibar water, which seemed unbelievable. I’d checked out hours earlier, but they kept me waiting another 30 minutes over the charge while my taxi waited. It was my first and last stay here. I expected better service from a hotel like this. The service was very poor, and they charged far too much for something I thought was included.

The pool was really good, though they charged extra to use it. We also loved the incredible view and the location, and found the place cozy and family-friendly. The price was very good, and the staff were so friendly. We had a great time and hope to come back.
