We had a good stay overall, with a spacious room and an easy entry using the door codes. The shared kitchen was fully equipped, and restaurants and the city center were within walking distance. Parking is limited, so late arrivals could have trouble finding a spot. There was a stain on the ceiling that might mean a leak from upstairs, and I hope they fix it. The shower was small, and its curtain clung to you once wet. A plastic curtain might work better. A laundry facility would be useful, since there's only one commercial laundry in the area.

The room itself was good value: I booked a family room with a toilet, and it was spacious, with a working heater, fast Wi-Fi and a strong shower. The toilet was oddly positioned. The place goes by two names, Acco and Sulur guesthouse, which was confusing. The kitchen was the letdown. There was barely space for one family, with only six seats, so guests ended up queuing to cook and taking turns eating while making others feel pressured to finish. If you don't need to cook, you'd probably have a much better time.

The late 5 p.m. check-in and very early check-out were the worst I've seen. It felt like the owner wanted to make money with as little effort and care for guests as possible. The room was tiny, like a servant's room, and the mirror was broken. Old, damaged furniture was still being used, the zippers were broken and wouldn't close, and the pillows were very old, thin and cheap. The bedsheets looked poorly folded around the mattress. The pillowcases and comforter cover smelled as if they might have been used already, though I couldn't tell for sure because they were dark. As a frequent traveler, I'm used to checking white sheets, and wondered if dark linens were being used to hide whether they'd been changed. Please get new white sheets. Some guests also wore dirty outdoor shoes inside despite signs asking them not to. You could hear everything: people talking loudly in the kitchen just outside the door, neighbors, cars, and even boys dribbling a basketball. I couldn't get a good night's sleep. There were blinds but no curtains, and light still came through when they were shut. The shower was fixed facing down in one position, so I had to bend close to the wall or hold it myself. The room got its name compared to a servant's room for a reason, and Lyngas Guesthouse, where we stayed in another town, felt like a hotel room by comparison. The owners didn't seem to care about making this comfortable for guests. The bathroom was also very cramped. The hairdryer and sheets added to my doubts about the place, and the old furniture was still in use.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. The room had a bad smell, and with just one bathroom serving nine rooms, I waited three hours to shower. It was miserable.

There were four of us friends, staying for one night. We got entry codes for the building and room, but when we arrived our room was under construction. I checked the Booking.com chat and saw they'd moved us that same day to a much more central building in Akureyri. It was a beautiful, spacious, fully renovated apartment for the three of us.
