Ljósafossskóli - Hostel

The price was great, and the whole building was clean, with roomy bathrooms plus a large kitchen and dining area. We stayed one night before the season began and were the only guests, which felt like a shame. Thanks for having us. I'd recommend it.

The valley views were lovely, and even though it felt a little quiet because it was off season, plenty of people showed up in the kitchen later. There are loads of tables and even a friendly cat. My private room was huge and really comfortable, and it came with towels. The hostel itself is very large, with big rooms, lots of bathrooms, and a hearty breakfast.

It used to be a boarding school, which gives the hostel a nice feel. The rooms were clean and the kitchen had plenty of equipment. I only found two showers, though, for as many as 20 rooms. We also saw the northern lights right outside!

We enjoyed chatting with the staff, and breakfast was good. The bed was comfortable and the shared bathrooms were nice. We visited in late September, off season, so we nearly had the whole place to ourselves. It's in a quiet spot but still close to the Golden Circle attractions.
