Vogur Country Lodge

We even got to see the northern lights! The lodge felt cozy, the food was great, and the hospitality made us feel right at home. It’s a wonderful place to get away from the city. The gravel road was dry when we visited in mid-September, and our 2WD handled it easily. There were a few potholes, but careful driving made it a fine, beautiful route along the coast.

The food at the beautiful restaurant was superb, and our stay itself was great in every way. The hotel is lovely and sits in a lovely setting. The problem was the distance: it was 120 km from Stikkishomar, not the stated 20 km. We drove there and stayed one of the three nights we’d booked, but it was much too far from where we needed to be, so we had to cancel the other two. Too bad.

The waterfall and hot tub were beautiful, and my room was clean and suited my needs well. The housekeeping team did a fantastic job. Constantine prepared a delicious spread; I especially liked the pork, and breakfast was nicely presented too. This was my favourite stay in Iceland, thanks in large part to Artur, whose hospitality was out of this world. He was so friendly and gentle, took time to check on me, and gave me advice about what to see and where to go. I’ll be back someday!

The dinner was one of the best meals we had in Iceland. Constantine cooked everything with care, and every bite was delicious. He and Arturo made us feel completely welcome, with warm, accommodating hospitality and top-notch service. We arrived just before the season started and unexpectedly had the whole place to ourselves, which made it feel like a private retreat. Vogue Country Lodge is tucked well off the beaten path, so we weren’t sure what to expect when we arrived. It turned out to be peaceful and scenic, a great place to wind down after rugged adventures. If you’re driving through the Westfjords back toward the main part of the country, it’s a perfect stop. We can’t say enough good things about it.
