Urðartindur Guesthouse

We camped here for three nights. The view is amazing, and everything else made up for the lack of showers. There’s a nearby pool where you can shower. 10/10, worth your money!

The cabin was everything we were looking for, and we slept extremely well. It’s secluded, with beautiful views, and after our adventures we could completely relax there. We made simple meals using the pots, pans, and cooking utensils provided. The owner also supplied instant coffee, a kettle, a coffee pot and filters, plus some basic seasonings. We checked in extremely late, but the owner explained how to get in, and the cabin was ready so we could settle in quickly and go to bed. We were close to an amazing hot pool right on the ocean and got to explore some of the coolest landscapes. This was our favorite cabin we’ve ever stayed at. We can’t wait to come back and would recommend it to anyone. Make sure your vehicle can handle the drive out there. We visited July 2-5, and the weather wasn’t horrible, but I wasn’t thrilled with our rented Dacia Duster. It did fine, though next time I’d choose something with more power, better tires, and maybe more ground clearance, both to make the drive more comfortable and to let us explore more of the area.

The managers were kind and friendly, and made me feel at home. I used this campsite for five days while exploring the area. It’s the second time I’ve stayed there on my travels in Iceland, and the kitchen is better equipped than at many other campsites. The site is a few kilometres from a thermal pool, a great place to relax after trekking or a day of exploring. If I return to the area, I’ll definitely stay there again.

The women who look after this beautiful place are lovely, especially the lady from Spain who chatted with me for a while about life around here. The service was amazing, the beds comfortable, and the rooms clean. Super recommended! 😍
