Ofanleiti guesthouse

The blue cottage had an amazing view, and the host let us check in at 11:30am, which was great on such a rainy, windy day. It's small, but it worked perfectly for our family of three, and our kid loved the bunk bed. The bathroom sink is tiny. The kitchen has a microwave, fridge, and small stovetop.

We could enjoy the scenic views from bed without going anywhere. The cottage was clean and tidy, with a fully equipped kitchen, fridge, all the utensils, and even an outdoor grill on the patio. On the day I wrote this, the erupting volcano was also visible on the horizon from inside the cottage when the weather was good. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vestmannaeyjar.

The cottages are simple and efficiently laid out, which suited us when we were heading out to explore or moving on quickly. They had stunning views and were a very reasonable place to recharge. Check-in was easy, the information was helpful, and communication was straightforward. We loved our stay. We stayed at Hvassaleiti Cottage in Ofanleiti, and our volcano and puffin ATV tour went right by it, so it felt like we'd picked a great spot. Haimaey Island isn't huge, and being just outside Vestmannaeyjar put us close to nature while still near the Westman Islands' attractions. We saw the seaside views, the top 100 golf course, elephant rock, the site of the famous 1973 volcanic eruption, and the cliff-dwelling puffins. After a full day covering so much ground, coming back to the midnight twilight was a lovely end to the day.
