Cafe Arhus Hella

Cafe Arhus Hella canceled our fully paid booking because of overbooking, just two days before we were due to stay. They emailed us telling us to contact Agoda. We went to the reception in person and were told they’d get back to us, but they never did. They also refused to relocate us, even though everywhere was full. It caused a lot of stress, wasted time, and extra expense. We had to go to Westman Island and pay for the ferry and much more expensive lodging, and missed seeing the lagoon and glaciers in eastern Iceland. On the ferry we met a couple who’d had the same thing happen. I wouldn’t recommend this place or their nearby hotel.

At more than 169 USD, this was a complete waste of money. The bathroom had no toiletries, and there were cobwebs in a corner. The furniture was a total mismatch, like it had come straight from a flea market. There was even a microwave on the bedside table, so you can enjoy sleeping next to that. The place is far below basic. You’d be better off sleeping in your car in the parking lot. Don’t go here.

Four adults would find this old cabin cramped. The bathroom is small and short on facilities, and there are only two chairs in the room for four people. The price is high for what you get. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The electricity went out a couple of hours after I got into the cabin and stayed off all night. I left at 6 am, and it still hadn’t come back. I hadn’t known when booking online that electricity would cost extra, and the girl at the front desk didn’t mention it at check-in either. I don’t know how many stars to give.
