The breakfast was lovely, and the bed was really comfortable. Björg made us feel welcome and was so nice. She also shared lots of useful, interesting tips for the rest of our trip. The shower was amazing too. I’d recommend staying here to anyone passing through the area.

Guesthouse Nonni was the cheapest place nearby, and the location worked well for exploring southern Iceland. We drove to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon and back in one long day, with lots of stops along the way. The rooms were clean and well looked after. Nonni made us a generous breakfast each morning, and there’s a full kitchen guests can use, plus a grocery store nearby. Nonni himself is kind, funny, interesting, and helpful. And Zorro, his tiny dog, is the shyest, cutest dog I’ve ever seen. I recommend this guesthouse as highly as I can.

The homemade Skyr, fruit jam, and bread at breakfast were delicious. I also appreciated that the owner waited for us when bad weather delayed our arrival. We’d called ahead, of course.

There are good dark skies nearby for seeing the aurora, and I caught the photo below just five minutes from the guesthouse. It’s a lovely place to stay and a convenient first stop after leaving Reykjavik when heading east.
