The hotel is quite isolated, but it made a great stop while travelling through the area. I managed to see some lovely nature a short drive away, although the storm made it hard to explore. I enjoyed my stay and found the staff very nice and helpful. A sudden winter storm forced me to detour and spend two nights here instead of in my camper car. I was surprised by how affordable the rooms were, then by how comfortable, clean, and spacious they felt. Breakfast was filling and delicious, with everything you’d hope for. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was also very good. The portions were a little large for me, but I definitely didn’t go to bed hungry.

The location was great, but our stay at Fosshotel Nupar wasn’t a good experience. The sheets were badly pilled and stained, the floor was dirty, and there was mold in the shower. The sink and toilet hadn’t been cleaned properly either. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

Of all the hotels we stayed at in Iceland, Fosshotel Nupar stood out for its outdoor views and restaurant. We ordered the squid ink seafood pasta and the soup of the day. Both were delicious and nicely presented.

We were lucky to get a room facing the mountains, right among Iceland’s dramatic scenery. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and we had a great meal in the restaurant. We signed up for the Northern Lights wake-up call and saw them on two of our three nights. Absolutely magical. We had a wonderful stay at Fosshotel Nupar.

It’s well located for seeing the lights, but the hotel tried to charge us $500 USD a night. The rooms are three-star at best, with dirty floors, no iron, a dirty glass with gross stuff under the bed, and no proper bedsheets. The restaurant was a nightmare. One table wasn’t served until 10.30pm, and our fish was cold and raw in the middle. We waited 45 minutes just for a server to come over and had to ask repeatedly. The food is average at best. One person asked for no mayonnaise on a very expensive burger and got triple mayonnaise. The staff were dismissive and rude, especially Gabriela, who spoke aggressively to our table. The restaurant is a lovely space, but the staff, service, and food quality are severely lacking. Stay somewhere else.
