The staff, Monica and her partner, were prompt and helpful, and the interiors were okay. But the bedding was below par, and in winter the water didn't drain well. The cabin is advertised as very private and isolated, yet it's right in the middle of a busy camp, so it wasn't as exotic as it might sound. Expensive for what you get. I won't stay again.

The private room was beautiful, and the town is scenic, though there's not much to do. A market and gas station are about a 3 minute drive away. Reception check-in hours are only 8 AM - 9 PM, and 4:30 PM to 10 PM.

I left a review on Airbnb, but it doesn't seem to have appeared, so I'm sharing what happened here. The host ignored my attempts to get in touch, and I rated the place poorly for that. On the morning I was due to check in, I saw on road.is that roads were blocked. I messaged the host to say I would try to make it, but got no reply. As a tourist unfamiliar with the area, I was hoping for at least some advice or information. After driving 180km from Hofn, I reached Eglisstadir around noon and tried again through Airbnb, with no response. By evening I cancelled and found another place, Lyngus Apartment. The next day and for several days afterward, I asked the host about a full or partial refund, and also asked Airbnb customer service to help contact them. CS said the host hadn't responded. I understand my booking was nonrefundable, but if they didn't want to refund me, they could have just said so. It felt like talking to a wall, not being treated as a client.

The cabin looks modern and nice inside, just like the photos, but the layout wasn't very functional. We had to unplug lamps to charge our phones because the other outlets were high up or in odd spots, and the hangers were too weak for heavy things. The bed was okay, though a better mattress would help. Midges were everywhere, attacking anyone who walked around, so opening the windows wasn't an option. It was 20°C outside, which felt way too warm for Iceland, and the cabin got too hot, making the stay uncomfortable. It isn't isolated, as it seems to be part of a campsite with other cabins nearby. It was an okay place, but definitely overpriced. The issues weren't really the host or cabin's fault.

A really bad experience. When road closures meant we couldn't get there in an emergency, there was absolutely no empathy. Booking this was a bad idea.
