Fosshotel Reykjavik

The hotel bar was a highlight, with a great range of local craft beers for the evening. Breakfast was also very good, a hearty and tasty start to a busy day, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The rooms are modern and well equipped. We found the beds a little too soft, though still slept well. It’s easy to get to downtown Reykjavik from here, and Bus Stop 12 is right outside, which made tour pickups convenient. A comfortable, convenient base for exploring the city and the rest of Iceland. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it.

The restaurant downstairs and the beer garden are both pleasant places for an affordable dinner, and the service was kind. Laugavegur, with its many restaurants, is very close by. This is a typical tourist hotel near the bay in Reykjavik. Our room and bathroom were clean and well equipped. The heating is central, so you can’t adjust it yourself. We were there in February and the room was always nicely warm, maybe a bit too warm at night, but it was easy enough to sleep without the duvet. Highly recommended.

Breakfast had a good range, including soya and milk alternatives. I found brown sauce one day, but couldn’t find it on the other days. Reception could call a taxi easily and quickly. The hotel is at the far end from the central area with bars and restaurants, so we took more taxis than expected. Our room was clean and modern, with a L'or coffee machine, but no milk, so my husband, who likes milky coffee, didn’t use it. There was no temperature control, and even with the small window open we were too hot. The rain shower was good. Toiletries, a recycling bin, plenty of storage cubbies, a mini fridge, and a large safe were provided. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, with layers of foam that shifted around.

Everything was very clean and we liked the look of the place. There’s a small convenience center for snacks, and the rooms have a little mini fridge. There’s also a bar and restaurant. Right by the waterfront, it’s easy to walk to the city center or stroll along the water. It’s a good spot if you’re taking a tour bus to see the northern lights.
