Guesthouse Galleri Vík

We wished we could have stayed longer. The hosts welcomed us into their home, which was our apartment, and were friendly and ready to provide almost anything we asked for. The kitchen was very well stocked, including homemade jams. The location was excellent too, within walking distance of many main attractions and restaurants. An absolute jewel.

I’m a year late writing this, but my wife and I were remembering the stay and I had to leave a review. Gudrun and Emil took us in on Christmas Eve during a snowstorm, the main evening in Iceland. They didn’t have to, but they welcomed us, shared Christmas dinner and Icelandic treats, and included us in their traditions. They’re amazing people. The apartment was incredible as well. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the layout gave us plenty of privacy. We’ll come back to visit them and enjoy the beautiful accommodation and location again.

We’ve been here twice now, which says a lot, but I want to share a few details. The bedroom is large, and there’s a spacious, nicely decorated living room. The kitchen has everything we needed, from dishes and a fridge to spices, cream cheese, tea, and sugar. There was fresh dough for waffles in the morning, plus cookies and homemade jams. The bathroom had various products for guests, and the whole place was very clean. The owners are lovely and help however they can. They gave us great activity tips near Vik and made us feel more like visiting friends than checking into a regular guesthouse. We’ll certainly come back the next time we’re in Iceland.

Gudrun left waffle mix for the morning, along with homemade butter and jams, and the whole stay felt like being with family. We could easily walk to the black sand beach, lava show, and several restaurants. The snow-covered mountains made a beautiful backdrop for morning coffee.
