Guesthouse Vellir

We felt safe the whole time, and there was plenty of room for us. The rooms were quiet enough that we never heard the neighbors. We'd arrived at another nearby place only to be told they'd overbooked and had no room, which left us panicking. Guesthouse Vellir got us settled right away, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The place was clean and peaceful, and we really enjoyed staying there.

The mountain and field scenery around the hotel is stunning, and there were lots of sheep right beside it. It's conveniently close to Vik. Our room was okay, but quite small, and the thin walls let us hear people in the adjoining rooms and hallway. The room itself was fine, though the lobby and shared bathroom had a stale smell. The bed was comfortable. We also struggled to lock and unlock the door, turning the key around for ages.

We were lucky to catch the Northern Lights during our stay, so it was a great place for watching them. The owner was friendly and made us feel welcome. The rooms were warm and cozy. Vik is about a 15-minute drive away, with a store and a beautiful beach; there's another beach near the property, though we didn't visit it.

The common room was a nice place to spend time, and the bathrooms were spacious. They're shared, which was fine with us. There's no free breakfast. The host was great, and the guesthouse is close to lots of things.
