We found Antica Fonte a lovely home base for exploring Assisi. One part of the city is within walking distance, and the drive is only about 5 minutes. Paolo welcomed us warmly and shared plenty of useful tips. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, including a small kitchen that made travelling with a baby much easier. We spent 3 nights here and found it well placed for Assisi. The property has a lovely setting and lots of attention to detail, and Paolo was always happy to help. The kitchen is a bit limited if you’re planning to cook, though that’s a small thing. Thanks, Paolo, for making us feel so welcome!

For an Umbrian stay away from Assisi’s touristy centre, Antica Fonte worked really well for us. We were there for 3 nights, with a comfortable room and gorgeous scenery. Paolo, the owner, was friendly and helpful. The old city is technically walkable, though the road up the hill is steep. Breakfast brought fresh bread, pastries, and yogurt. The WiFi was pretty unreliable, but it’s also a nice place to disconnect for a while :)

Paolo and Dominica were fantastic. Our parents stayed in the one bedroom next to our quaint apartment, which fit our family of 5. There are other apartments for rent too. We had a washer, sink, and refrigerator, plus a lovely patio. It was nice to be outside Assisi and still see it up on the hill with a glass of wine. Would highly recommend!

The woods around this place are so quiet and peaceful, and the scenery is breathtaking. Assisi is only 5 minutes away by car, so it felt like a lovely spot to settle in Umbria. Paolo was incredibly welcoming and gracious, always happy to offer useful advice. We enjoyed our little morning chats with him. Our affordable studio had everything we needed: a fridge and sink, cutlery and plates, a hot plate, and a microwave. The bathroom was comfortable, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Free WiFi was a must out in the forest, where mobile reception is very poor. There was ample parking for our 4x4, too. We also loved the local, slightly wild cats, who seemed quite happy to trade cuddles for food scraps. Highly recommended if you’re after a peaceful stay in Umbria.
