La Tavola dei Cavalieri

The restaurant staff were very friendly, and the food was good, though pricey for what it was. Our booking ended with us placed in another of their properties down the road, without warning or compensation. There was less space, and the receptionist was rude. The road to these properties is in very bad shape. There’s not much offered at the property, so you’re left by the pool or making the rough drive each day to go anywhere.

The staff made us feel very welcome and were extremely helpful. We had a peaceful few days, and the restaurant was lovely, if a little pricey. Their own wine was very good too. Getting there was the difficult part. The road has badly worn patches of asphalt, steep hills, and poor visibility. We managed in a small car, but I wouldn’t make that drive again in the dark or when it’s wet.

That room was so charming, and the food was amazing. We also loved the view, and having hiking and little towns nearby gave us plenty to do. The staff were kind to us, too. We stayed for several days two years ago and loved it. We still find ourselves dreaming about this beautiful place, and we’re planning to come back next year.

We’ll be back. The hosts were so welcoming, and the homemade food was delicious. They also make their own beer and wine, and both were lovely. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful spot in the hills of Assisi.
