Tilia

We stayed in the family apartment and felt safe and secure, especially with its own entrance. It was lovely, clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed for two nights. The main square is about a ten-minute walk away, and there are a few bus stops just minutes from the apartment. We were also very grateful that we could leave our luggage on the last day. This is a perfect place to stay in Bologna, and I'd definitely book it again if I return.

The hosts were incredibly friendly and quick to respond whenever we needed something. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we slept really well. The location was great for exploring Bologna. I was disappointed by two things. The towels smelled so strongly of bleach that they were uncomfortable to use. Also, we chose the option advertised as “Breakfast included” when booking, but breakfast turned out to mean chocolate cake and yogurt. The cake was delicious, but neither was what I consider breakfast or what I expected.

Tilia is on a peaceful street, away from the main plaza and late-night restaurant noise, about a 30-minute walk from the train station. The room had high ceilings, lovely windows, excellent air conditioning, and good hot water. Before I arrived, the staff answered my questions exceptionally well and accommodated my dietary restrictions.

Simone, who manages the BnB, is very accommodating and has created some lovely apartments. The location is good for seeing Bologna. But the sound insulation between units is poor, so you can hear other guests as though they're in your apartment. Earplugs helped block some of it. The old doors are beautiful, though unlocking and locking them adds a few minutes before you can head out. I was also disappointed that guests were allowed to smoke in their rooms. The smoke drifted into ours, and I'm very sensitive to it.
