Hotel Da Compagnoni

The room was comfortable enough for a decent night's sleep, but I found the pillows unsupportive. Breakfast was disappointing too, with few choices and food that seemed low quality for Italy. The location is excellent, though the rooms felt small for the price. The bathroom was especially cramped, with an old-fashioned shower that looked straight out of the 1980s and no modern features. The thermostat was tiny, old and tucked away, so adjusting the temperature was difficult.

I booked four nights at the end of February through Booking.com, and now the hotel has cancelled, saying there was “an error.” They haven't replied to my email or picked up the phone. I find this unacceptable. I'd recommend booking somewhere else.

Dinner was very good, but breakfast was only average and we expected more, especially in Italy. The rooms are small, and the beds could be more comfortable. On our first day, the room temperature control stopped working and there was no hot water. Staff assured us they'd fixed it and that both would come back, but after more than an hour nothing had changed. The hot water returned only the next morning, which wasn't great when we wanted a shower after a full day skiing.

Everyone looked after us very well, especially Lucia at reception and Daniele in the restaurant. Hotel da Compagnoni was a great choice for our annual ski trip: it's right by the ski lift, the rooms are cosy and nicely chalet-style, and the ski facilities are very good. Definitely one of the best places to stay in Cervinia.
