The house has breathtaking views from every window, and the owners’ love for the place shows in all the thoughtful details. Our beds were comfortable, including for my husband and me, who came from very firm beds in Paris hoping for something softer. The pool floats were comfortable and nicely made, and there was plenty of shade. We paid to have the pool heated. It wasn’t warm, but it was certainly not too cold, and it refreshed us during the recent heat wave. The lighting throughout the house and the little outdoor lights were adjustable to our liking. We celebrated our 20th Anniversary here with friends arriving at different times. Villa Il Poggino, concierge Serena and housekeeper Guilia made it a beautiful occasion. We made use of every area of the property, from the Bocce Ball and pool to the fire pit, outdoor tables, jacuzzi, indoor fireplace and well-equipped kitchen with very sharp knives. I’d definitely recommend the cooking class and chef-prepared meals. We tried Grazia and Elisa, and both were great. The neighbors’ dogs followed us home after a gorgeous morning walk and came to visit once, which helped me miss my pup a little less. What a magical place! If I could give it more stars, I would.

We had a wonderful week at Villa il Poggino and are sad to go. We’d love to return for longer. Andrea has made the house and grounds beautiful and welcoming, and Serena was kind and helpful whenever we had questions or requests. We booked through Tuscan Dream Villas, whose team helped us plan so many parts of the trip. Giorgia arranged family portraits with photographer Diego, which turned out fantastic, and also set up a private cooking class at the Castello Tricerchi through Magida Brunello Cooking Class. Our chef Alexandra was amazing. We also had two excellent wine tours for our group of six with Tours of Tuscany. At the villa, Chef Sergio prepared a wonderful dinner, and Chef Elisa made us a pizza meal. Both were exceptional. The villa’s central location made it easy to explore the region, enjoy the countryside and visit nearby towns. The hospitality and attention to detail were wonderful throughout.

I’ll always remember the changing 360-degree views from Poggino, especially the sunrise and the evenings when the stars came out. We spent six weeks at Villa il Poggino, celebrating milestone birthdays and retirements, and it became a place full of memories for our family. The first two weeks, our daughters joined us with their families and four grandchildren under six. We held our 40-year vow renewal on the lawn, with Diego taking wonderful photos and Alphio78 playing under the stars. Later, family and friends came along for trips to wineries and towns such as Pienza, Chiusure, Montepulciano, Montalcino and San Quirico. San Quirico was a personal favorite. Shout-out to Lorenzo and his family at the Capitano Hotel, and to Omar the sommelier at Enoteca Ossena for the great food and wine. The villa itself is impeccable. The kitchen would suit Michelin-star chefs, the infinity pool could fit a whole neighborhood, the jacuzzi is perfectly placed for looking at the night sky, and the bocce court brought out some friendly competition. There was no shortage of memorable food either. Sergio, Elisa and Francesco cooked at the villa, with pizza-making for the kids and a pasta-making class for the adults. Chef Grazia made the best lasagne ever. The service made the stay especially wonderful. The owner handled every request personally and had a useful guest guide with suggestions for activities, restaurants, chefs, drivers, photography, music and more. Serena, the villa manager, offered five-star concierge service around the clock. She even unpacked the Amazon packages we had shipped ahead of time, so everything was ready when we arrived, and brought homemade cakes, champagne and flowers. Giulia’s cleaning was meticulous, and she worked around our changing schedule. Palo kept the grounds immaculate and kindly left us fresh eggs and vegetables. Salvatore’s driving service was first class. The drivers were professional and punctual, the vehicles spotless, and the car seats we needed were provided. A special mention to Roberto for being so kind with the children. We loved the Castiglion Del Bosco wines Selene brought us. As CdB’s wine hospitality supervisor, and a Buonconvento local, she seemed to know everyone. She helped her aunt Grazia prepare and serve some wonderful, memorable dinners, and became a friend we’ll miss. We also had a special sunset preparation of Chianina beef at the villa, thanks to Orlandi and his daughter Carlotta from bottega_delle_carni. The meat was the best in all of Siena. We laughed all night, then made many more visits to the Bottega del carne to see Orlandi and order beef for dinner. We’re grateful to everyone at the villa and to our new friends in Buonconvento for memories that will last a lifetime. Until we see you again.

We loved our family break here. The Tuscan views, the house’s style and luxury, and how practical and well equipped everything was made it feel very comfortable, like a home away from home. It suited both people looking for a quiet retreat and families wanting to gather. The staff and owner looked after us so well. If you get the chance, book an evening with chef Elisa. Her Italian food was delicious!

We went to Villa Il Poggino with friends for two weeks to celebrate our 50th birthdays, and Andrea and Serena looked after us from the booking right through to the end of the stay. Their guidance and hospitality were exceptional. Food was one of the biggest highlights. Andrea’s chefs, Grazia, Elisa and Sergio, made wonderful, authentic Tuscan meals. We liked Grazia’s lasagna so much we asked for it twice. Elisa’s duck ragù pappardelle and pasta-making class were a treat, and Sergio’s pork in Vernaccia wine sauce and rich Bolognese have stayed with us. The villa has a lovely mix of Tuscan character and modern comforts. It sits above sweeping 360-degree views of the Val d’Orcia, with a postcard-worthy scene from every window. All the bedrooms have private en-suite bathrooms, and the indoor and outdoor shared spaces work equally well for relaxing or spending time together. Montalcino, Siena and Pienza are only a short drive away, as is Buonconvento, a charming town well worth visiting. Villa Il Poggino is a real gem, and we’re already thinking about coming back, or seeing Andrea’s new project in Puglia. Grazie mille for memories we’ll keep for a lifetime!
