The staff were welcoming and friendly, and gave us helpful tips about parking and getting to know the city. We stayed five nights at Guest House Lago di Nicito in Catania and had a wonderful time. The location is good for walking, about 10-15 min from the center where all the action is. Parking on the street with blue lines is paid, but free spots were quite easy to find while we were there. There's also free street parking about 10 min. away. The free pickup from the airport worked well for us since we arrived after 22:00. Self check-in was easy, with a code for both doors and a room key at reception. To get that option, you have to prepay; otherwise someone needs to wait for you there, and you have to pay extra.

We booked two nights but left after the first because getting decent sleep mattered more to us than the money. Motorollers, cars, and people talking kept us awake until 5am, making for a terrible first night in Catania. The service was good and the room was clean. The pillow could've been better.

There wasn't a single cafe or restaurant around, so there were no options for breakfast or dinner. The place was really inflexible about check-in and check-out, and charges an extra 25 euro for arrivals after 19.00. The shower hadn't been cleaned properly, with hairs stuck to the walls, and the sink was clogged. The air conditioner was badly placed and blew right at your head. Then the cleaning lady knocked on our door several times early in the morning, telling us to leave by 10 even though check out is at 11. Horrible stay.

The nights are really loud, but earplugs will sort that out. Otherwise, I strongly recommend this hotel: the rooms are clean, the people are kind, and I really can't think of any cons.

We were very satisfied. The location is good, right in the centre of Catania, and the staff are kind. The rooms are clean, breakfast is good, and check-in and check-out times are flexible.
