Hotel Manganelli Palace

The staff made us feel at home, and Massimo was especially helpful. He managed to get us reservations at two great local restaurants at short notice. The hotel also offered good value, a large quiet room, and a comfortable bathroom, with a great location. If we’re in Catania again, we’ll stay here.

We were here a month ago, and everything went well. The reception staff were very nice and helpful, and the hotel is in an excellent location. Some streets a few blocks to the northeast have a sort of “ghetto” feel and didn’t seem safe late in the evening. I also agree with Roberta’s recent comment about cheerful Stefania from the canteen.

The room itself is lovely and clean, with very comfortable beds, and I love the ceiling. It’s also close to the shopping area and restaurants, all within a 10-minute walk at most. I’d definitely stay again, and I’m looking forward to breakfast tomorrow. It comes highly recommended. A few things were missing: there were only plastic cups, no coffee, just three tea bags, no milk for the tea, and no biscuits. Most hotels we’ve stayed at so far offered two complimentary bottles of water, but here a bottle costs €1:50.

The location was good, with plenty of restaurants nearby, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The walls had dirty marks, the bathtub and sink wouldn’t hold water, and the tub was very dirty and leaked every time we showered. The sink drained very slowly, and tiny red ants kept appearing on and around the bed.
