Marbella

The rooms were clean and pretty good, but breakfast was really bad. It was just sweet desserts and pastries. Worse, you had to ask the very rude owner for a pastry, and he looked at you impolitely every time you went to get food, as though a croissant worth 1€ at the store were something worth 100+€.

The owners' large dog was running around the hotel without a leash. That's a no-go for us now. The rooms are basic, with no chairs on the balcony, and there's no AC unless you pay 10€ at night, which is strange. Breakfast is basic too, just coffee and sweets. The reception staff were friendly, but there were different people there and most didn't speak English.

We left certain we'd never return. At checkout, instead of asking whether our stay had gone well, they said, “Jogurt - 2 euros.” We paid and left laughing. The room and bathroom were very clean, and housekeeping did an amazing job, but breakfast was a bad experience. At the breakfast room, the receptionist stood by the pastries and handed out the sweet food. There were no savory options, and it made us feel watched, as if our portions were being rationed. A large glass screen separated her from the food, which seemed to be their attempt to make this about Covid, though bread and butter were self-serve at a small table, and we could take yogurt from the fridge behind her. The hotel is in a good location and the building is okay, but the people running it didn't make us feel welcome. Instead, the many “Forbidden” signs, telling guests not to eat in rooms, fill water bottles there, use the elevator unless they live on high floors, or use the lobby restroom, made it feel like a camp for children where everyone had to be watched and controlled. I understand the need for rules, but the way and time they were imposed mattered. A kind request from reception at check-in would have sent the same message very differently. The signs made it seem the owners thought guests couldn't behave without them. Ridiculous :).

They gave us such a warm welcome and were really friendly. Nice staff. I'd recommend this hotel with the Mirabilandia park package.
