Vallechiara

It’s a family-run place, with excellent courtesy and care for guests. We’re in Romagna, so I’d be surprised if that weren’t the case. The room was clean and tidy, the food was good quality, and the staff were attentive. Prices were excellent. Congratulations.

I’ve stayed at Vallechiara Hotel a few times. Before Covid, on my second-to-last visit, I had a great time. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all generous, well-stocked buffets. I came back for a few days from June 9th to 13th and unfortunately didn’t enjoy it as much. My room was on a floor with lots of small children who cried through the night. The buffet was gone. Instead, lunch and dinner had a menu of three first courses, three second courses, and a side dish. The appetizer was up to the chef, and if you wanted extra vegetables, you had to ask the waitress what was available. Some dishes were very good, others less so. The desserts were extremely sugary; I only ate them twice, and they were always left over. On Wednesdays, the chef chooses dinner, so you get whatever is offered. At breakfast, there was a list to select drinks and food. I found the brioches too big and not very filling. The restaurant girls were a bit distracted when it got busy. The room itself was clean, and the cleaning staff were very kind. The beach arrangement was great. Parking inside the property cost extra, and the value for money was adequate.

Friends recommended this hotel, and it left me with a very pleasant impression. It’s in Cesenatico on the Adriatic coast, set a little back from the main street and nearby restaurants, so it’s a quiet, cozy place to stay. The beach is about a five-minute walk away. Use of the beach, with one umbrella and two loungers, costs extra. As people who know this coast will know, the sea is shallow and the sand is good for small children and older people. The beach service and hotel service were excellent. The room was clean and cozy, with a balcony and everything needed for a comfortable stay, though rooms in this area are usually small. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff were polite, friendly, and ready to help. They speak English, and Google Translate is there if you need it. The food is Italian, fresh, and delicious. I was glad there was no buffet. Meals varied, with meat, fish, salads, and other dishes, and things like ravioli made from scratch. Water was included, while wine and other drinks cost extra. The parking in front of the hotel was handy, and the beach was about a 10-minute walk away. Those were the only good points. The service and food were terrible. We waited half an hour for two cappuccinos, with a small child there. One evening we got pasta swimming in oil with mackerel from a supermarket tin, fruit salad that seemed to have been rotting for at least three days and was served in a jar, gnocchi with an absurd amount of garlic, and baked potatoes reheated so many times they were as hard as rocks. The bread was the same day after day. The food was truly awful. They charged €4 for a bottle of water under a liter, saying drinks weren’t included in full board. That’s shameful. I don’t recommend this hotel and won’t return.
