Artemide Guest House

Just a heads-up that the rooms are on the second floor and there's no elevator. It wasn't an issue for me, but it's useful to know if you're traveling with someone who has a disability. Artemide Guesthouse was in good shape, comfortable, quiet, and clean, close to the main sights and train station. Communication with the property manager was professional, clear, organized, and quick. Fully recommend.

The place is close to the city center, but we had a bad experience. Our 2:30 check-in wasn't ready when we arrived at 2:35, and we didn't get into the room until around 3. We waited in a lobby with no air conditioning. There's no concierge or check-in staff, and you should expect to haul your luggage up four flights of stairs. The bathroom layout was really strange too, with no door between it and the living space. If you can, stay at another hotel in the area.

The unit worked perfectly for our family while we were in Florence. Communication was good, and checking in was easy.

The room and building made for a miserable night. There are four rooms on the second floor of a gloomy building, with no elevator, and no attendant to greet you at check-in. You only get the instructions after sending details for every guest by email or WhatsApp. That's a hassle with luggage or kids. The host had confirmed the rooms were air-conditioned, but when we returned from dinner the room was 26°C and the AC wasn't blowing cold air. I called and messaged several times without getting a reply. We couldn't sleep until 4 AM. The host said AC in Italy only gets turned on after May, which isn't true. We'd just spent three nights in Rome where the air conditioning worked perfectly. They also said we should have opened the windows if it was hot. I did for ten minutes at night, and mosquitoes and moths came in. Mosquitoes kept buzzing around and trying to bite me while I tried to sleep. I killed three that night, and took photos. We went back and forth with Agoda and the host about a refund. In the end, we got a full refund after telling the host we wouldn't check out without one, though they still expected us to leave by 10:30 AM after we'd barely slept. At least the location is handy for restaurants and sights, the bathroom had been renovated, and the towels and bed linens were clean. After a long, exhausting day, this was a very disappointing stay, and the lack of sleep ruined the next day too. There are plenty of nearby hotels that would be a better choice.
