B&B di Piazza del Duomo

We arrived just before sunset, and the room looked beautiful as soon as we walked in. The host was really helpful about where we could and couldn’t drive our rental car in the city. She also arranged a local taxi to the airport, so we didn’t need to use Uber and could support local business. Being right in the center means there’s some noise, but we loved feeling the energy of Florence. One thing to know: there’s no lift for suitcases. That was fine for us, since my boyfriend and I carried ours down separately. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend the place.

Room #5 was spotless and just right for us. Luisa sent detailed check-in directions before we arrived, then gave us a map and some really good suggestions once we were there. We could choose between two breakfast options, and both worked out well. I’d happily recommend this place to friends or family. The location is right in the middle of everything. A couple of minor things: the floor creaks, depending on when other guests arrive, and you can hear the bells. We were up early anyway, so the bells were actually a lovely alarm clock. The streets get cleaned during quieter hours too, which makes sense in such a popular area. None of that would put me off. The good parts of the accommodation made it all worthwhile.

The breakfast turned out much better than the coffee and croissant we expected. We got a coupon with two nearby bar choices, one right under the hotel and another about a minute away, with tables and chairs facing the cathedral. It included a hot drink, juice, a sweet pastry, and a sandwich, with different choices for each item. The juice was fresh, too. Best breakfast I had in Florence. The room itself is small, but thoughtfully decorated with really beautiful things. We knew ours was against a wall and had an external bathroom, so that didn’t come as a surprise. The air conditioner heated the room well at night, though it was a little noisy.

The reception ladies were very kind and well meaning, and the breakfast restaurant opposite the church was quite good, though the choices were limited. The hotel is close to the church, but the view wasn’t what the photos showed. It’s on the second floor with no elevator, and the place feels run down. The rooms are small, poorly designed, and need repairs soon. There’s no soundproofing, and the wooden floors were warped enough that you could feel it just by touching them. For what we paid, it was outrageous.
