Casa Thiele alla Signoria

Antonio and Daniel were so kind and helpful during our three nights in March. The room was lovely and clean, and we slept well on a very comfortable bed. Just off the plaza, the hotel is only a short walk from all the main sights. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it!

The location is great and the price was affordable, but I wouldn't stay here again or suggest it for a longer visit. I stayed in the Fauna room with a friend. We're both larger women with hips and weren't in athletic shape. I've been to Europe seven times and stayed in 20 hotels, and this was by far the least clean. Antonio, who works mornings, was wonderful. His English isn't fluent, but he was kind, worked hard, and did his best to help us. Staff are only there for part of the day, though, so we didn't see them when we went on tours and other outings. The room was dim. The pretty rock walls were very dusty, and near the end of our stay I noticed what looked like mold growth on the wall by the clothes hanging area. My friend and I sneezed often in the hotel, but were fine once we left. The bed felt like a futon, with a very thin, hard mattress, and the pillows were flat and firm. The bathroom was cramped, like a capsule shower on a cruise ship, and hard to move around in. The toilet was wedged close to the wall, with the paper on a high shelf behind it. One morning the water stopped completely. On arrival, the shower drain was also blocked and water stood in the base. They tried to help when we asked and fixed that the following day. The stairs were a struggle, though that's common in Europe. Breakfast was very basic. For the price, I could have accepted that and the uncomfortable bed, if the room had been clean and properly maintained. I suspect the dim lighting and guests staying only briefly may help explain the better reviews, since people are so taken with beautiful Firenze.

We had the Honeymoon suite, and Antonio looked after us so well throughout our stay. He even had the room ready before check-in and let us in early. Each morning he made us a wonderful breakfast, and we enjoyed talking with him about places to see, food to try, and getting around Florence. He was polite and incredibly helpful every day. The hotel was clean and very well hosted, which made our time in Florence amazing. Thanks to Antonio and the whole team for making our honeymoon so special. We'll recommend you and hope to visit again!

Antonio was so warm and thoughtful. When we left for our wedding venue, he gave us dried lavender as a little gift. The breakfast was spectacular, and our room was clean and cozy, with room for our big suitcases and my wedding dress. The place is right in the middle of everything, yet quiet enough to sleep well. We couldn't have asked for a better host or location.
