Hotel Cosimo De' Medici

Our flight was meant to transit through the Middle East, so the conflict there kept us from travelling. We asked the hotel to approve a refund and tried to explain, but they declined twice. I’ll avoid this heartless hotel in Firenze next time. Please find somewhere else to stay in Firenze, there are plenty of options.

It’s very close to the station, which is a plus and makes the price worthwhile. But the AC remote wasn’t in the room, and staff just said nothing could be done. We were told the minibar snacks would be complimentary, but there were only two bottles of water.

The hotel is old, though the rooms have been updated. Ours was very clean, with a firm bed and a nice washroom with an rs8n shower. Firenze Train Station, Duomo Cathedral, Bell Tower, and Mercato Central Market are all within walking distance. Mercato Central Market has great sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and cafe. Most tourist attractions are close, though parking is hard to get. There’s a coded gate for safety.

Florence itself is gorgeous, and we loved the patisserie and wine windows, but this hotel completely spoiled the experience for me. The room was seriously small, right on a main road with cars, lorries, people, and bikes passing by, shouting and honking. You could sit on the toilet, wash your feet, and brush your teeth all at once. The old TV remote didn’t work properly with the TV, which mattered to my husband, and getting the air conditioning to work was a chore. There was no kettle, and the drink station had only tea, no milk. Its hot water was lukewarm, too. I found the breakfast inedible for a 3 star hotel and only had cornflakes and a cup of tea. On our last morning, cleaners went through the dining room with dirty linen, mops, and other cleaning things while people were eating, right past the food. The city tax was 6 euros per night, when we usually paid between 2.5 and 3 euros. The Florence train station is mad, so get there early and be prepared. It was very hot during our stay, so take mosquitoe cream, a hat, and sun cream. I’ve sent feedback to the travel agent. We use them all the time, and if this had been a one-off booking just for this hotel, I wouldn’t book with them again. I’ve attached photos for you to check out.
