Hotel Donatello

The building at Hotel Donatello is new and well kept, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We enjoyed having breakfast in the garden. The only real downside was the lack of complimentary water in the room. We were given two bottles on the way to our room late at night, then told at midnight that we had to pay for them. That seemed unnecessary, though the stay was pleasant overall.

Mosquitoes were everywhere and wouldn’t leave us alone. I was with a large group, and every single one of us got lots of bites. The staff were rude, the accommodation was terrible, breakfast was below par, and the cleaning service was poor. I’m appalled by the hotel’s condition. The worst part is that I left €200 worth of gifts there. I called the same day and offered to pay to have them shipped, but they said our room was “too dirty” and that they had thrown away my bag, even though it clearly wasn’t rubbish and was wrapped as a gift. We were clean, and if the cleaning service wasn’t good enough, that was the hotel’s fault. I’m horrified they did this, and think they should reimburse me for my property. The gifts for my parents and my dog came from Switzerland, and the hotel didn’t seem to care at all. The hospitality was disgusting. I’m beyond angry and wish I could curse in this review. I’d leave a thousand bad reviews so others don’t have to go through this.

Awful hotel. The staff were unpleasant, the rooms dark and narrow, and breakfast was terrible. Checkout has to be before 10 a.m. Avoid staying here.

The first five nights of my eight-night booking were fine, and the location was great for everything I wanted to see. Then the last three nights were brutal. The thermostat was broken, and the room felt like it was 1000°. I asked them to fix it, but the woman at the front desk just told me, “open a window madame!” The heat was unbearable and I couldn’t sleep. I went from thinking I’d recommend the place to telling people to steer clear. They need better help at the front desk.
