Hotel Berna

They cancelled my reservation 23 hours before check-in, saying they couldn't reach me to confirm it. Probably sold the room for a higher price. What a ridiculous reason.

Nadia and Alina were wonderful hosts and gave us amazing hospitality. They helped store our luggage, arranged an early-morning taxi, and showed us how to get around town. The location is perfect, a 3 to 5 minute walk from the train station and within walking distance of all the tourist sights. Breakfast was a very good spread and cost 8€ at the hotel. The rooms aren't big, but they're well equipped and comfortable for our family of four. The elevator is small, but more than enough for luggage. Many buildings in Florence, including this one, are old, and I understand it's not easy to fit elevators, so having one is great. Would highly recommend.

The staff were friendly, and they really helped us on our first night when our train was delayed late into the night. The room itself was quite nice. The hotel is in a very old building, though, with a tiny elevator that can't fit two people with their luggage. The TV was small, and the soundproofing could use some work. We didn't hear the neighbors next door, but while the reception desk was open we could hear people talking in the corridor.

It worked well for us with just backpacks, and it was an affordable option in Florence. The room was clean and nice, with a comfy bed and pretty view, close to the train. This felt more like a B&B than a hotel, just a few rooms upstairs in a building, though there was a reception desk. The staff were kind and let us store our bags while we explored before check-in. They even carried them to our room once it was ready, which was lovely. With lots of stairs and a slightly scary elevator that seemed to fit only two people without bags, I wouldn't recommend it for a family or anyone travelling with lots of large luggage.
