Hotel Careggi

The location is a plus, very close to the duomo, but the room was cold and noisy, and breakfast was extremely meager. I was told there were no blankets when I asked. The man at reception said I could use the air conditioning for heat, but it didn't work. I ended up sleeping in a warm sweater under an extra sheet. With icy stone floors and no slippers provided, I wore shoes and put a towel down so I wouldn't catch a cold. I could hear the toilet flushing and my neighbors coughing, so bring earplugs. Breakfast left me with only bread and cereal to choose from. In my edited review, I asked for a blanket again and was told there weren't any. They came to check the air conditioning themselves, and nothing changed. If they consider three kinds of cereal and different breads a buffet, that's sad, and perhaps they should try other hotels. I asked how I was meant to know about a buffet at the counter; I'm a big traveler, lol. Buffets aren't kept at the counter, they're given to guests in their rooms. The negative reviews mention the same issues, so I'm not the only one making mistakes. They should work on the problems instead of blaming every “rude” guest and denying them. All the best!

The administrator was very rude, and his reply to my girlfriend's Booking.com review was dishonest. To repeat: it was 12 degrees outside, and there were no blankets. He told us the air conditioning could heat the room, but it wasn't working for heat. We made those requests during our stay. Maybe he's just too lazy to do his job. He should accept that he did a poor job. Next time I'm in Florence, I'll use my fists to deal with him instead of my tongue.

Musa, who was on duty at reception, was extremely friendly and gave us lots of tips for enjoying Florence. The room itself was extremely small, though, and the bathroom was worse than an aircraft toilet. Our bath towels were torn and poor quality. We stayed three nights, were very disappointed, and won't stay here again.

Alessandro gave us restaurant and sightseeing suggestions and made us feel at home. Having travelled a lot around Italy, I'd say this was by far the friendliest staff I've encountered. Our room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was great. The hotel is a 30-minute walk from the centre, which I appreciated because it was quieter and less crowded. I'd definitely return.
