The location is excellent, and the woman who checked us in was very nice and helpful. But on the day we arrived, we found a lot of mold in the shower. We showed the front desk photos and were told the cleaners must have missed the corners and would deep clean it the next day. That meant staying another night in a shower we found gross and unsettling. The hotel offered no remedy, and we weren’t convinced the mold could simply be cleaned away since it was embedded in the silicone. We didn’t want to step into the shower barefoot. We left early the next morning and asked for a refund for the remaining two nights. They refused unless they could book someone else into our room, and said we’d only get back whatever that guest paid. They cited high season and said they couldn’t just lose the money. We got nothing back. I’ve never had to dispute a credit card charge before, but now I am. I can’t believe they handle things this way. There were other problems too. This isn’t really a hotel, but an apartment building where some, not all, units are rented out. Restaurants directly below mean you’ll smell them, especially on lower floors. The furniture was worn, and after seeing how the shower was cleaned, I worried about the room’s cleanliness. There were stains on the bedframe and couch, an empty Fireball whiskey bottle in the closet from a previous guest, and a hole in one pillowcase.

They welcomed us with a bottle of wine and were so helpful about where to go and eat. The room was comfortable, and the bed was unusually soft for an Italian bed. The location is right in the heart of the city, next to Uffizi and within walking distance of all the main attractions. 10/10, the best B&B I’ve ever stayed in. We’ll absolutely stay here again when we return to one of our favorite cities.

We had a great time here. The location was perfect, and the front desk service was great. She was the best. Tourists, especially those of us from the United States, shouldn’t expect everything to work like it does back home. I saw a woman complain about something that was her own fault, and some of the reviews I’ve read are just stupid. These buildings are hundreds of years old, so people need to understand the history. If you want a new building, stay at the Hilton or Hyatt or Four Seasons and pay a lot more. Otherwise, stay home instead of complaining about things you don’t understand. Be grateful to find a hotel with a great location and good prices.

We were happily upgraded to the suite, and the hotel was amazing. Simona gave me the best check-in I’ve had in years, and I travel a lot. She’s incredibly sweet and knowledgeable, with great tips and restaurant suggestions. 100% recommended.

We felt at home thanks to the whole team, who were friendly, helpful, and good at finding solutions. The hotel was very clean and safe, with everything comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. The welcome from the moment we arrived was warm and professional, and the location was perfect for exploring Florence. The only small drawback was the mini fridge, which was quite small. We’d highly recommend La Torre Dei Salterelli to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Florence.
