Breakfast was a lovely way to start each day, and we really enjoyed the charm of the boutique atmosphere and learning about the building’s history. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The staff made us feel right at home, and everything we wanted to explore was an easy walk away. We’d absolutely return and highly recommend it.

The location is wonderful, right by the river and close enough to walk to all the main sights, yet the place is surprisingly peaceful. The Renaissance-style mansion is a beautiful place to stay, and the rooms were spotless. Everyone on-site was very friendly, especially the woman looking after breakfast. Breakfast itself was up to 4-star standards, but one person handling the kitchen and five tables at once felt like too much. At a 9-room boutique hotel, some help from the front desk during busy breakfast times would improve the experience. A beautiful stay, though the management could be more flexible with staffing.

Our room was beautiful, with a lovely view of the river, and had everything we needed. The staff were welcoming and kind, and they knew the building’s history well enough to show us around. We loved staying here.

We loved the spacious, artistic room and the building’s unique history, so we’d been looking forward to a special stay. Instead, what happened on our last day left us very uncomfortable. As we headed out for one last walk around Florence, a cleaner followed us to the entrance and asked for tips. We know tipping isn’t part of the culture in Italy, or in our own country. At checkout, we told the receptionist what had happened. She quickly suggested it was a misunderstanding and that the cleaner was checking whether we were leaving. We explained again that the cleaner had followed us out to ask for tips. The receptionist reluctantly noted the complaint and apologized. After we checked out and were leaving, the same cleaner followed us again, insisting and pressuring us for tips. We had to tell her again that we don’t tip. I’m glad it was our final day, because after that I would have felt incredibly uncomfortable staying there. I don’t enjoy leaving a poor review, and we aren’t asking the hotel for anything. I do think management should know this behavior is unprofessional and inappropriate, and could make future guests uncomfortable. We give it 2 stars because we felt followed and harassed for tips, and we wouldn’t stay here again if we returned to Florence.
