Hotel Luxor Florence

The room was spacious and clean, with the things we needed, including a kettle and hair dryer. The staff were kind and helpful. We could hear noise from other rooms, though. I’d still recommend staying here when visiting beautiful Florence.

Getting around was easy since the tram at Roselli and a bus stop were close by, and Soniya also pointed us toward nearby markets for shopping. She made sure we had what we needed, and the breakfast was delicious. We had a warm, comfortable stay with Luxor.

The location worked well, near the train station and about 1 km from the city center. They also reimbursed us for one night and gave us complimentary mini bar drinks, just water and soft drinks, which I appreciated. But the stay was very stressful. Our flight was canceled, leaving us stuck in Zurich for 28 hours, so we told the hotel we’d miss the first night and arrive late the next day. When we got there around midnight, they’d given our paid room for three to someone else. The only room left was small and for two, so my son had to sleep on a mattress on the floor. The first two mattresses they brought weren’t acceptable, but the third was. The electricity in the room was unreliable too. We checked out and couldn’t get into our original room until late afternoon. That room was fine, though its drain was clogged. The whole situation felt unnecessary.

The location is handy for the historic center and main train station, and the staff were polite and approachable. Breakfast was okay, but repetitive enough to get boring after the first day. They also only take city tax in cash. The train noise was a deal breaker for us. It went on all day and came through the walls; the soundproofing was awful. The room was set to 24 degrees, and opening the windows wasn’t possible because of the noise. We couldn’t sleep properly for all four nights because of the heat and sound. One early morning someone tried to open our door in room 203. There was no corridor CCTV or security bolt inside. We emailed and got no response. Reception spoke to us in person, but didn’t give a reasonable explanation.
