The room was spacious enough, clean, and well maintained, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. In the Italian summer heat, that was a real relief, since it doesn’t always work that way elsewhere in Europe. The location was exactly midway between the city center and my office, though I know that may not be useful for every visitor. The proprietor was very helpful and easy to reach on WhatsApp whenever I needed something for the room. Keep in mind this is an apartment rather than a regular hotel, so there’s no reception. The proprietor was happy to help during the day. Good value.

I stayed here for two weeks and loved it. The manager was so sweet and helpful, and the Wi-Fi worked well. There are lots of nice restaurants nearby. The Piccolo papa room stayed perfectly cool even when it was insanely hot outside.

Poggio Imperiale is close to Porta Romana, so it’s easy to walk to Florence’s main sights. There’s a laundry room and a kitchen, and Clara was a very kind host.

Clara was welcoming and relaxed, and you can tell this is still a family home. It’s her childhood house, with about ten apartments that differ in layout and design. There’s a small kitchen with the essentials, plus a laundry room for guests to use. I’d pick one of the patio-level apartments with a separate living room. They’re more comfortable, and you have fewer stairs.

The neighborhood around Porta Romano has plenty of interesting, affordable places to eat and drink, even though it sits a little away from the main tourist route. From there, downtown Firenze is about a 10-minute bus ride or a 20-minute walk. The studios are lovely, well located, and great value.
