Relais Lavagnini Florence

The service was excellent and we had a very pleasant stay. Duomo and Ponte Vecchio are about a 12-minute walk away. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Firenze.

We mostly got around Florence on foot, so having to leave the car in a courtyard a short walk away and pay a little for parking wasn't much trouble. We had a comfortable room with everything we needed, plus coffee and a simple, good breakfast. The back outdoor area was a nice place to rest during siesta, though the hotel felt a bit too far from the center to come back there for a break after spending time in the city. We were there with family and could leave our things in the room while we explored Firenze.

The room was dirty and smelled moldy, and the shower cap was broken, so I had to shower through a tiny hole in it. The photos on Booking are misleading. After I posted a negative but truthful review, they tried calling and texting me, then charged my card twice. They took 750€ on top of the 535€ I had paid for the stay. I don't think 535€ was a fair price for this hotel, it should have been 60€. I’m going to dispute the charges with my bank and get the money back. It’s crazy that they can charge your card like that. Never book here.

The bed was the one decent part, fairly comfortable and clean. The room itself looked onto a small, dusty courtyard and barely got any daylight, despite what the official photos suggest. The floors and furniture were old in a neglected way, the shower door had been patched with tape, and the water was almost cold. When we arrived, we rang reception and waited about ten minutes before someone showed up on a bicycle. If I could have gotten even part of the money back then, I would have switched hotels immediately. I can't recommend this place.
