Residenza Castiglioni

The room matched the website photos, was quiet, and had a heater that worked well. Breakfast was great, with eggs, toast, salad, and hot chocolate, and there’s a lift to the second floor. We were a bit unsure how to open the gate, but some locals helped us get inside. It’s an older place, but still a good one. The location is handy for walking to the main sights and restaurants, and getting to the airport was easy too.

The garden single room was quiet at night, unlike rooms facing the street, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was an interesting stay in a historic Florentine building, with a simple breakfast that was nice to have. For the price, the central location is a real plus, close to the main sights, train station, and lots of restaurants. Everything in the room worked, including the hot water, air conditioning, and bathroom facilities, and the place had a welcoming feel. My room was narrow, small, dim, and not as shown in the online photos. It could have been cleaner, too. The elevator helps on the way up, but you have to carry your suitcase down the stairs when checking out. I’d also steer clear of the alley on Via dell’Alloro, which didn’t feel very safe or clean.

We spent a week here, and our suite was huge and worked perfectly for us. The hotel team were friendly and took great care of us, with useful ideas for things to do in the city and beyond. Breakfast was just right, with a good choice of food and fresh coffee made to order. This family-run B&B is so well placed for getting around Florence on foot. You won’t need a taxi if you bring comfortable shoes. There are good restaurants and shops all around, and the train station is about a 7 minute walk away. I’d highly recommend staying here.

After a full day walking, I loved being able to take a hot shower, and the water pressure was pretty good. Our room was quiet and roomy, with comfortable beds, and there were extra blankets in the closet. They rearranged the beds when we asked, and could order a taxi for us if needed. Good breakfast, helpful services, and a central location. Highly recommend.
