Residenza D'epoca Poliziano

There were quite a few stairs up to the Residenza, and I had two large suitcases. Booking didn't make it clear that there was no luggage storage, so at 11 o'clock I had to leave the room with all my things. The minibar was empty despite being advertised as a host's gift. I told the host twice on WhatsApp and got only a 'sorry'. The Italian television wasn't working either, and again the host didn't help. The sheets were dirty and had hair on them, and I sent the host photos. There were also insects in the bathroom, with pictures available, but nothing was done. Nobody was available in person, and the staff I reached on WhatsApp weren't helpful.

It's clean, the minibar was included, and the shower had good hot water. The neighborhood felt normal and wasn't noisy at night, apart from a next-door neighbor watching TV until 12:30 am. You could hear everything, making it impossible to sleep, and there was nobody to deal with it. This is an apartment or residence, not a hotel. It's near the center, but I wouldn't recommend coming by car. The train or a taxi would be better.

Getting to the center takes about 15 minutes on foot, and there are several buses nearby. Check-in was really quick and self-service. The room and bathroom were very clean and nicely finished, and the room had everything we needed: a free minibar, A/C, coffee maker, ironing board, and iron. There's also a small shop right next to the hotel, and the area is quiet.

We had to haul our heavy bags up a long flight of stairs late at night because there was no elevator, despite the listing on booking.com saying there was one. What a shock. This isn't really a hotel, but an old residential building without even a sign to help you find it. If you're visiting Florence, I wouldn't stay in this building.
