Residenza le Fonticine

I was quite disappointed. The listing said breakfast was included, but at check-in the receptionist told us there was no breakfast service. That was misleading and frustrating. The room was cold, the climate control was poor, and the air conditioner remote was missing. There were no extra blankets or warm bedding either, so getting a good night’s sleep was difficult. The gap between the advertised amenities and what we actually got left a lot to be desired, and I’d hesitate to recommend the hotel. “No, she’s a liar. We booked directly at her place for 08/11 after I made an error with my reservation at the other hotel, La Rezidenza de MichelAngelo, which suggested we spend the night at her place. It was a bad experience.”

Being close to the train station was useful, and they let us leave our luggage the day after checkout, but the stay was awful. There was no street noise insulation at all. A street cleaning machine woke us around 3 AM, then another machine started at 6 AM, so we couldn’t sleep. We booked a triple room but got one duvet and two blankets, not even in duvet covers, despite asking for another duvet. The duvet had long hair on it, so it seemed like the cover hadn’t been washed. They marked us as no-shows even though they knew we’d arrive late and had given us an entry code. Now they want to file a complaint about my valid Booking review, when we couldn’t sleep at night.

The location is great for visiting the historic sights, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. But it was extremely noisy, like sleeping right on the street. Traffic kept going on this busy road, and partying or drunk people made plenty of noise. Earplugs on the second night helped us get at least a few hours of sleep. They cleaned the room, but not the bathroom, and left no fresh towels.

We got a lot for our money here, probably one of the best values on our whole trip. The location is excellent, with most major attractions within walking distance, and the front desk gentleman gave us great suggestions for local tours and sights. Our room was clean and spacious, with one of the nicer beds we slept in. The only downside was the AC, which wasn’t very good. Still well worth the price, and I’d highly recommend it.
