Sani Tourist House

The location is right in the heart of Florence, less than a five-minute walk from uffizi. There’s a kitchen and eating area, which worked really well for our family with kids. We could go back and rest in the afternoon to escape the heat and tourist crowds, then head back out to enjoy the nightlife. The air conditioning wasn’t strong, but the place stayed cool enough. There’s also a washer, though we had to air-dry our clothes. Be sure to check in by 7:30 pm. The manager was quiet and could seem unfriendly, but he helped us whenever we asked. For the location and price, I’d definitely come back.

The hotel is very well located, the air conditioning was great in Florence’s heat, and breakfast at a nice place down the street was okay. But the check-in was a poor experience. We got into the building only because another guest was leaving, and no one came to reception despite several rings of the bell. We had to call the hotel to get the receptionist out of his room. Our room had no soap or shampoo. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear everything from the entrance hall and neighboring rooms.

The rooms were okay and cheap, right in the city center, which was the only good thing for us. There was no parking, and if you don’t check in before 19:30, you can’t get into your room. We also found cockroaches in the hallway leading to the apartment. The host was terrible and rude. The air conditioning already worked poorly, and when they made the beds in our apartment that afternoon, they turned it off. The place got extremely hot. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We left before even seeing the room we’d booked because of how rude the owner was. I’d read similar accounts on Trip Advisor and wanted to share what happened to us. Our card was rejected during the booking process, but we received an email saying the reservation had gone through. We were abroad and had limited internet access, so we couldn’t respond to later emails during the trip. When we arrived, he wouldn’t let me finish translating for my girlfriend. She was getting stressed because we didn’t understand what was happening or why he was shouting at us. He kept asking why we didn’t understand, since he had the best possible offer. He acted superior and, in a demeaning way, offered to speak English, German, or French because he thought we couldn’t grasp his simple message. The final straw was when he asked why my girlfriend was making a drama, even though she hadn’t said a word. We decided to leave and find somewhere more welcoming.
