We were there the first week of October and had a great stay. Three of us shared one room, and they arranged an extra bed when we asked. Simona was a lovely help with everything, from room service to arranging an airport taxi. We could walk everywhere from the perfect location. The one downside was that we got bed bug bites.

We stayed in five of Italy's biggest cities, and taken together, that trip was one of our best. I'd give this place three stars because a few things need work: the breakfast ingredients are cheap CONAD items and could be better, guests can't control the AC, and the soundproofing needs improvement. Street noise is to be expected in such a central spot, as others have mentioned.

For my 42-day trip around Italy, this was the worst stay. I paid $905 for the suite, and the view of Piazza della Signoria and the Duomo was the only good part. Most rooms don't have that view, and it wasn't worth the price. The room itself was dirty: the bathtub was dirty, the sheets damp, the floor dusty, and the kitchen dishes unwashed. In the kitchen, many plates still had bits of food on them. Whenever I used one, Simona watched and told me, “Use the small plate, not the big one.” We got only four towels for two people over three nights. The sign said they'd be replaced on day three, but the staff didn't change them that day. The next day they changed their story and denied it. The host was nearly impossible to reach. At check-in we waited outside for over 30 minutes in 34°C heat without help or an apology. Simona was rude and unprofessional. I told her I'd accidentally spilled a little water on the bedside table and a small amount of coffee on the bedsheet. The table and mattress were completely fine, and only the sheet had a small mark, as shown in the photo. Instead of helping, she yelled that I had to pay. She used a translation app because her English is so bad, kept raising her voice, and blamed me for damage I hadn't caused, including scratches that were already there in this building over 900 years old. She kept me in the room for 25 minutes and spoke to me very unpleasantly. If a few drops of water are such a big deal, maybe the furniture belongs in a museum, not a guesthouse. I paid a lot and was treated very badly. Simona's behavior ruined part of my trip. The elevator starts on the second floor, not the ground floor, so you have to carry luggage up narrow stairs. That wasn't mentioned when I booked. The A/C was locked and we weren't allowed to adjust it. When we finally reached the host, she said to “just open the window,” even though it was July and very hot. I don't recommend this place at all.

The location is good, but the hotel is noisy. Restaurants all around stay open until midnight and start up again at 6 am. The rooms and common area get very hot and stale. Air conditioning is locked at 77 degrees, with no fans or air movement. Breakfast is packaged processed food kept in your room, very unlike an Italian breakfast. Read the reviews before you book.
