Casa Rovai Guest House

The house itself is beautiful, the air conditioning worked great, and check-in was easy even though the front desk was closed when I arrived. They don’t have a 24-hour desk, so if you need someone waiting on you, find a five-star hotel. For me, this was a traditional Florence experience that’s hard to beat, and I’ll make it my first choice next time. Pisa is only an hour away by train. The rooms are clean and spacious, the biggest I’ve seen in Europe. My bathroom was clean, there was even a bathrobe, and the bed was comfortable. The location in the historic centre is incredible. Great food is at most a 5-10 minute walk, the Uffizi is 5-10 minutes away, and the Duomo is about a three-minute walk. I walked everywhere during my four-night stay, even to Piazzale Michaelangelo.

Our room was beautiful and peaceful, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They kept our bags on the last day, which was handy. The sparkling water tap was a big bonus, and the location made everything close by. We had an excellent stay at Casa Rovai. Highly recommend, and thanks for a great visit.

The room was quiet, the courtyard lovely, and the facilities good. Restaurants, bars and central sights are all a short walk away. The frustrating part was being required to complete pre-arrival check-in through WhatsApp. I didn’t have it and didn’t want to download or use it, but there was no other way to get access and collect the keys outside the limited reception hours. This should be explained when booking. We’re an older couple, and the unwelcome surprise might have put us off booking if we’d known.

It’s more of a bed than a bed and breakfast. They do have a proper breakfast for an extra fee, but you’re better off walking the 30 yards into town.
