Residence Menotre

We stayed in September at Residence Menotre, a converted tower dating from the 1400s above the little village of Rasiglia. It’s about 30 minutes from Assisi and 20 minutes from Foligno. We had the “Corinna” apartment on the lower level, a cozy studio with a big private terrace where we ate breakfast and lounged in the chairs. Having a boulder as one of the walls was fascinating. The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed for four nights. Our hosts were the best part. Signora Luciana welcomed us on arrival, walked us through the property, and gave us a guest basket with some of her famous treats. She also shared lots of suggestions for places to eat, drink, shop, and visit. Following her tips, we stopped at her family’s textile shop in Rasiglia and their olive groves in Assisi, where they produce exquisite extra virgin olive oil each fall. She also recommended a beautiful vineyard tour, where we saw the grounds, learned how local Sagrantino wine is made, and had a fabulous tasting. It was a relaxing, cozy stay, a great base for exploring Umbria in Central Italy or just getting away from city life.
